Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a kind SSW breeze on the water and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac Lewis should come off the shallows early and the drop later. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Lewis sits in Nord-du-Québec, out in Quebec. It sits at 318 metres above sea level. At roughly 10.22 sq km it ranks among the larger waters in the region. You have roughly 41 km of edge to choose from, which rewards a scouting trip. On our Nord-du-Québec list it sits near the top for size. The nearest place of any size is Waswanipi, 35 km away. Chapais is 62 km away, with Chibougamau at 99 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Reported across Nord-du-Québec: Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Fish Lac Lewis to its features, not to its size.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -19°C. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. On Lac Lewis the same rules apply, with local timing.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. If the gate is shut, Lac Relique at 6.1 km is the nearest alternative. Ask locally about Lac Lewis if anything is unclear.
