Heavy overcast holding through the day, with hardly a ripple anywhere and pressure sitting still. On Lac Levrier, work shallow cover and weed edges first. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Look for Lac Levrier in the Mauricie part of Quebec. The bank is 454 metres above sea level. With some 23 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The full circuit measures close to 2.7 km on foot. Manawan lies 41 km from the water. After that come Weymontachie at 49 km and Leblanc at 78 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Species logged across Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Anyone new to Lac Levrier should walk it once before setting up.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -16°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Levrier.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. If the gate is shut, Lac Futaie at 1.5 km is the nearest alternative. Ask locally about Lac Levrier if anything is unclear.
