A grey, even sky over the water, with a light S breeze and steady pressure. Start the search at Lac Lawrence along sheltered bays and points. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

You will find Lac Lawrence in Côte-Nord, Quebec. Northern bush runs right down to the water. At 1.70 sq km this is proper open water rather than a pond. On our Côte-Nord list it sits near the top for size. Fermont is the closest town at 24 km. Beyond it, Labrador City at 35 km and Wabush at 37 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. County-wide records name logperch. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Fish Lac Lawrence to its features, not to its size.
Between January at about -23°C and July at about 13°C, the water has a wide range to work through. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late May. Break-up near late May, freeze-up near late October: that is the shape of an average year. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. That is the shape of the year on Lac Lawrence.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Lac Cherny, 1.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lac Lawrence in what we hold.
