No direct sun expected today, with air barely moving and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Lac Laurent around the weed line and any gaps in it. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

You will find Lac Laurent in Lanaudière, Quebec. The surroundings are mixed forest. Surface area is around 15 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The edge runs 2.0 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. The nearest place of any size is Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm, 17 km away. Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne is the closest city, 92 km away. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Survey and observation records for Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Anyone new to Lac Laurent should walk it once before setting up.
In an average year July sits at 17°C and January at -15°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Laurent.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. If the gate is shut, Petit lac Saint-Donat at 1.4 km is the nearest alternative. Confirm before you fish Lac Laurent.
