Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac Laurel should come off structure within a cast of the bank. The strongest window is the morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Laurel falls in Laurentides, part of Quebec. The sea is 35 km distant. The water covers some 62 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The outline measures near 5.6 km, so local knowledge counts. It is among the larger waters listed here for Laurentides. Some 15 km away sits Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard, the nearest settlement. Then Morin-Heights, 18 km, and Brownsburg-Chatham, 21 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Survey and observation records for Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Treat Lac Laurel as a water to read rather than to cover.
Long-run averages give July about 18°C and January about -13°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near late November in autumn. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Time your trip to Lac Laurel by conditions rather than dates.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. A slipway 710 m out gives trailer access. The closest car park is 680 m away, so pack accordingly. There is a toilet block some 590 m out. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac Lafantaisie, 1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. What applies at Lac Laurel may have changed since it was mapped.
