Soft grey light all day today, with a faint SSW drift with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Lac Lambert should come off windblown banks where food collects. A stay-home graph, with the middle of the day as the one excuse to go. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Out in Côte-Nord, Quebec, sits Lac Lambert. It lies 230 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 22 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The edge runs 1.9 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Nearest place of any size is Forestville, 36 km away. Beyond it, Betsiamites at 46 km and Chute-aux-Outardes at 64 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Côte-Nord records list logperch among the fish reported. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. On Lac Lambert the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Temperature averages peak at 16°C in July and bottom out at -17°C in January. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. Break-up near early May, freeze-up near mid November: that is the shape of an average year. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. The season on Lac Lambert follows the weather closely.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Access points are not mapped for this water, which suits people who like quiet. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Lac Angelo is 1.4 km off. Confirm before you fish Lac Lambert.
