Look for Lac Laberge in the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean part of Quebec. It lies 269 metres above sea level. At about 26 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The edge runs 2.9 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. The town to know is Pont Rouge, 40 km out. Saguenay is the closest city, 97 km away. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Anyone new to Lac Laberge should walk it once before setting up.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -19°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Plan around that when you fish Lac Laberge.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Should this one be busy, Lac Vincent is 1.3 km off. Ask locally about Lac Laberge if anything is unclear.
