Passing showers with dry spells between, with a kind S breeze on the water with a settled glass. The fish at Lac La Verendrye are likely to sit near the weed line and any gaps in it. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Look for Lac La Verendrye in Laurentides, Quebec. Height above sea level is 394 metres. The water covers some 10 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. About 1.8 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. For supplies, La Minerve is 26 km out. Beyond it, Mont-Laurier at 31 km and Rivière-Rouge at 31 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Laurentides records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout among the fish reported. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. At Lac La Verendrye light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Expect July near 18°C and January near -14°C on the long-run figures. Winter shuts the surface down for months. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. On average, late April opens the water and late November closes it again. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. On Lac La Verendrye that shapes the whole year.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. The water borders Réserve faunique de Papineau-Labelle, so reserve rules are likely to apply. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. If the gate is shut, Lac Fos at 0.7 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac La Verendrye, the notice at the access point is the final word.
