A grey, even sky over the water, with a stiffish breeze from the SSW and the barometer holding steady. Most of the action on Lac Kinogami should come off bays that hold the day's warmth. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Kinogami is listed under Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The surface lies 536 metres up. It runs to roughly 39 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. With 6.0 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. It is among the larger waters listed here for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. The closest town, Weymontachie, is 66 km away. For a city, Saguenay is 170 km off. No border sits close enough to matter.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac Kinogami the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -18°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lac Kinogami runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac du Griffon, 1.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Where Lac Kinogami is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
