Overcast skies today, with a kind NW breeze on the water and pressure going nowhere. Start the search at Lac Kachiwiss along sheltered bays and points. Numbers are low everywhere; the morning is the pick of them. Go lighter and slower than usual. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Look for Lac Kachiwiss in Côte-Nord, Quebec. It sits 16 km in from the sea. Roughly 59 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. You are looking at roughly 7.2 km of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Quebec listings. Maliotenam sits 18 km from the bank. After that come Sept-Îles at 21 km and Port-Cartier at 58 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Fish documented in Côte-Nord include logperch. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Fish Lac Kachiwiss where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Between January at about -16°C and July at about 15°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. That shapes the year on Lac Kachiwiss.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac Grande Coulee, 2.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Where Lac Kachiwiss is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
