Clear overhead with good moonlight, with barely a breath of wind with the barometer flat. Fish at Lac Josselin should hold close to the margins and the shelf beyond them. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Josselin is a Nord-du-Québec water, Quebec side. It lies 300 metres above sea level. It measures some 2.66 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. The shoreline runs about 14 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. Lebel-sur-Quévillon at 30 km is the nearest place to stop. Beyond it, Senneterre at 46 km and Barraute at 60 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Fish documented in Nord-du-Québec include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout and lake whitefish. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. At Lac Josselin the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Climate records put July near 16°C and January near -18°C. Winter owns most of the year at this latitude. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Expect Lac Josselin to follow that timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. The nearest alternative is Lac Gustave, 3.2 km out. Treat access at Lac Josselin as something to verify.
