Wet weather working through today, with the water lying quiet and no real change in pressure. Give structure within a cast of the bank the first hour at Lac Jolico. Block out the hours from night into morning. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Set in Lanaudière, Quebec, this is Lac Jolico. Everything around it is spruce and muskeg. At 9 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Nearest place of any size is Saint-Michel-des-Saints, 51 km away. Manawan follows at 65 km, then La Tuque at 72 km. What else is close: Lac Isabelle (1.4 km), Lac Wapi 2 km away, Lac Carrier (2.2 km), Lac Barbe 2.5 km away and Lac Alice (2.7 km). This one is safely inside the county line.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Lanaudière records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout among the fish reported. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. At Lac Jolico light and wind decide more than tackle does.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 17°C, while January sits near -16°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Expect Lac Jolico to follow that timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Failing this one, try Lac Isabelle, 1.4 km away. For Lac Jolico, the notice at the access point is the final word.
