Rain moving through today, with a kind SSW breeze on the water and steady pressure. Lac Johanne should fish best around points where shallow meets deep today. The forecast is against you; the middle of the day is the least bad option. Short, focused sessions beat a long grind today. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Lac Johanne in Outaouais, Quebec. This is lake country bush ground. About 8 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Supplies mean a trip to Saint-Boniface, 32 km off. Beyond it, Maniwaki at 40 km and Saint-Raphaël at 48 km. More in the same country: Petit lac Royal the better part of 2.4 km, Lac Royal about 2.6 km, Lac Lucy the better part of 3.3 km, Lac Whistle about 3.5 km and Lac Ignace the better part of 4 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Species logged across Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Read Lac Johanne for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Averages here run 18°C at the top of summer and -15°C at the bottom of winter. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Ice is part of the season here, ending near late April. Break-up sits around late April on average, with the water closing again about late November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Lac Johanne runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Petit lac Royal, 2.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Johanne for certain.
