A clean, cloudless night over the water, with an easy breeze from the SSW with a settled glass. Whatever swims in Lac Jerry should be near the seam between weed and open water. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Jerry lies in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, in Quebec. It sits at 358 metres above sea level. At about 17 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The full circuit measures close to 1.8 km on foot. The closest town, Senneterre, is 98 km away. Val-d'Or lies 109 km off, Barraute another 120 km. Within a short run: Lac Maxwell 1.8 km, Lac Proville roughly 5.2 km, Lac Bouchette 6 km, Lac Reynolds roughly 6.1 km and Lac Landron 6.9 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Abitibi-Témiscamingue, recorded fish include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. At Lac Jerry the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Averages move between -18°C in January and 17°C in July. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. That is the shape of the year on Lac Jerry.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. If the gate is shut, Lac Maxwell at 1.8 km is the nearest alternative. What applies at Lac Jerry may have changed since it was mapped.
