Wet weather working through today, with next to no ripple and steady pressure. The productive water at Lac Jabot will be around the first drop-off and weed lines. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

You will find Lac Jabot in Mauricie, Quebec. Elevation runs to 466 metres. About 5 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. The town to know is Leblanc, 64 km out. After that come Weymontachie at 107 km and Chapais at 117 km. In the same area: Lac Leaz roughly 1.7 km, Lac Morion some 1.7 km off, Lac du Camp roughly 1.8 km, Lac Loubier some 2.6 km off and Lac Surprise roughly 2.6 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Public occurrence data for Mauricie names northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Read Lac Jabot for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Long-term averages put July at about 16°C and January near -18°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. That is the shape of the year on Lac Jabot.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. For a change of water, Lac Leaz is 1.7 km distant. Treat access at Lac Jabot as something to verify.
