A grey, even sky over the water, with light air out of the S with a settled glass. Activity on Lac Inga should centre on sheltered bays and points. Everything points to the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Inga belongs to Mauricie, Quebec. The ground around here is spruce and muskeg. It runs to roughly 75 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The perimeter runs near 6.2 km, so plan the walk before you start. On our Mauricie list it sits near the top for size. Start from Weymontachie, 39 km down the road. Then Leblanc, 60 km, and Saint-Félicien, 94 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records held for Mauricie cover northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Lac Inga responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. Winter owns most of the year at this latitude. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. On Lac Inga that shapes the whole year.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Should this one be busy, Lac Ti-Gars is 1 km off. The position on Lac Inga is worth confirming on the day.
