Soft grey light all day today, with barely a breath of wind and the barometer holding steady. Activity on Lac Indian should centre on the first drop-off and weed lines. The night is where the day comes good. Make the first hour count and build on it. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Quebec holds Lac Indian, in Outaouais. Everything around it is lake country bush. Surface area runs to about 7 hectares — small enough to read in one session. The closest town, Wakefield, is 1.6 km distant. For a city, Gatineau is 23 km off. Not far off: Lac Forked sits 0.8 km out, Lac Blair 1.4 km away, Lac Saint-Antoine sits 1.5 km out, Petit lac de la Dame 2.1 km away and Lac Chip sits 2.3 km out. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Lac Indian the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The year swings from about -13°C in January to roughly 19°C in July. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Averages suggest open water from about late April through to roughly early December. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. At Lac Indian the season follows that pattern closely.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. If the gate is shut, Lac Forked at 0.8 km is the nearest alternative. The position on Lac Indian is worth confirming on the day.
