Fresh rain topping the water up today, with a gentle ripple from the S with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Lac Ida should be near the seam between weed and open water. If you pick one session, make it the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Look for Lac Ida in the Lanaudière part of Quebec. It lies 291 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 5 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. The closest town, Saint-Gabriel, is 6.7 km away. For a city, Terrebonne is 68 km off. What else is close: Lac Parent about 1.2 km, Lac Laquerre some 1.9 km off, Lac Grenache about 2.1 km, Lac Lamarre some 3.3 km off and Lac Labrecque about 3.3 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. The near bank of Lac Ida is often the one people ignore.
The warm month here averages 19°C; the cold one sits at -14°C. Winter shuts the surface down for months. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Expect Lac Ida to follow that timing.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. For a change of water, Lac Parent is 1.2 km distant. Signs at Lac Ida carry more weight than any list.
