A closed sky with even light today, with mild air moving in from the SSW with the barometer flat. Give reed fringes and open pockets the first hour at Lac Hupon. Everything points to the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Hupon is a Mauricie water, in Quebec. It lies 493 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 5 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. For a base, Leblanc sits 15 km out. Then Weymontachie, 47 km, and Manawan, 102 km. Others close at hand: Lac Santa (1.4 km), Lac Big-Al 1.8 km off, Lac Junon (1.9 km), Lac Brochet 2.8 km off and Lac de la Gloire (2.9 km). No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Species logged across Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Read Lac Hupon before you fish it and the day goes better.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -17°C in January. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Plan around that when you fish Lac Hupon.
Public data does not answer the access question here. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Santa, 1.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Rules at Lac Hupon are worth checking on the day.
