Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with light air out of the SSW with the barometer flat. Whatever swims in Lac Huot should be near reed fringes and open pockets. The numbers single out the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

The Laurentides end of Quebec holds Lac Huot. Height above sea level is 142 metres. A splashy cast here empties the swim; a quiet one owns it. On size it sits at the modest end of our Laurentides list. The closest town, Saint-Jérôme, is 4.1 km distant. Then Saint-Canut, 6.9 km, and Lac-Alouette, 8.9 km. Close neighbours run: Lac Lafontaine 2.7 km away, Lac Desjardins within 3 km, Lac Laniel 3.4 km away, Lac desSources within 3.5 km and Lac Claude 3.7 km away. No border sits close enough to matter.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Survey and observation records for Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Lac Huot responds to conditions more than to tactics.
On the long-term average, July reads 20°C and January reads -12°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Winter locks it down, and mid April brings it back. On the long-run averages the water opens up around mid April and starts locking again about early December. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. The season on Lac Huot rarely departs from it.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. There is recorded parking some 320 m off. Parc naturel des Fagnes covers ground next to the water; its rules will apply on that side. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Lafontaine, 2.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Lac Huot carry more weight than any list.
