Dull, settled light over the water, with a soft SSW wind and no real change in pressure. Give windblown banks where food collects the first hour at Lac Hunter. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Hunter is a Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine water, Quebec side. It stands 663 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 2 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. On size it sits at the modest end of our Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine list. Nearest place of any size is Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, 75 km away. Gaspé is 76 km and Cap-Chat 88 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Survey and observation records for Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine include American eel, striped bass, alewife and rainbow smelt. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lac Hunter fishes better once you know its edges.
Long-run averages give July about 16°C and January about -14°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Hunter.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac de l'Ile sits 3 km off and takes the overflow. Where Lac Hunter is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
