Overcast skies today, with barely a breath of wind with a settled glass. Lac Hilda should fish best around points where shallow meets deep today. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Set in Mauricie, Lac Hilda is a Quebec water. The setting is northern bush. Small at around 5 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Start from Leblanc, 90 km down the road. After that come Manawan at 117 km and Weymontachie at 127 km. Nearby alternatives: Lac Puck about 1.1 km, Lac Avenon within 1.4 km, Lac Fuller about 2.1 km, Lac Murel within 2.2 km and Lac Bambino about 2.3 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Species logged across Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. The shape of Lac Hilda decides where the fish sit.
Between January at about -18°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Expect Lac Hilda to follow that timing.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Sort the permit out before you load the car. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Should this one be busy, Lac Puck is 1.1 km off. Nothing on Lac Hilda should be assumed from this page alone.
