Lac Hendry, Quebec: Fishing Spots and Seasons

• Overview

  Lac Hendry is one of the Nord-du-Québec waters in Quebec. It lies 43 metres above sea level. Roughly 7.87 sq km of surface: treat each bay as a water in its own right. You are looking at roughly 23 km of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. It ranks high for size among our Nord-du-Québec listings. The closest town, Kuujjuaq, is 9.9 km distant. Nain follows at 430 km, then Puvirnituq at 558 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.

• Where to Fish on Lac Hendry

  Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Fish documented in Nord-du-Québec include Arctic charr, brook trout and lake trout. • Seasonal Patterns

  The year swings from about -24°C in January to roughly 12°C in July. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early June. The season between ice runs from about early June to late October. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Lac Hendry runs to that rhythm year in and year out.

• Tackle & Baits

  Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others.
