Lac Hector in Mauricie: How and When to Fish It

• Overview

  Look for Lac Hector in the Mauricie part of Quebec. The country round it is lake country bush from end to end. The water measures roughly 2 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. On size it sits at the modest end of our Mauricie list. Head to Saint-Élie-de-Caxton, 28 km away, for anything you forgot. Beyond it, Shawinigan at 34 km and Hérouxville at 40 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.

• Where to Fish on Lac Hector

  Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Across Mauricie, recorded fish include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Anyone new to Lac Hector should walk it once before setting up.
