Overcast skies today, with a firm S blow and steady pressure. Expect most activity at Lac Hebert around the margins and the shelf beyond them. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Hebert is set in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. It stands 538 metres above sea level. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. Weymontachie at 64 km is the nearest place to stop. Saint-Félicien follows at 66 km, then Saint-Prime at 71 km. Other water within reach: Lac Roland a shade over 0.5 km, Lac Turcotte sits 1 km out, Lac du Mulot a shade over 1 km, Lac en Cone sits 1.3 km out and Lac Roger a shade over 1.4 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Open biodiversity records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. On Lac Hebert a short move beats a long cast.
The year swings from about -18°C in January to roughly 16°C in July. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. On average, early May opens the water and mid November closes it again. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Hebert.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Roland, 0.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lac Hebert in what we hold.
