A closed sky with even light today, with calm air over the water and pressure going nowhere. Give the seam between weed and open water the first hour at Lac Harding. Numbers are low everywhere; the middle of the day is the pick of them. Take the small wins and call it early if it dies. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Lac Harding in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. Land around it is pine and birch. Roughly 34 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The whole outline is near 4.1 km, and most of it is walkable. Notre-Dame-du-Lac at 24 km is the nearest place to stop. Témiscaming follows at 28 km, then Ville-Marie at 58 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Records held for Abitibi-Témiscamingue cover northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. The shape of Lac Harding rewards a slow walk along one bank.
July runs about 18°C on average, January about -14°C. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late November in an average year. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. The season on Lac Harding rarely departs from it.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Dubois sits 1.6 km off and takes the overflow. What applies at Lac Harding may have changed since it was mapped.
