A closed sky with even light today, with light air out of the W with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lac Gus is inflow corners and shaded margins. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Gus is a Lanaudière water, Quebec side. It sits at 486 metres above sea level. With some 53 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The full circuit measures close to 4.9 km on foot. On our Lanaudière list it sits near the top for size. Manawan at 12 km is the nearest place to stop. Saint-Michel-des-Saints follows at 64 km, then Rivière-Rouge at 85 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Take Lac Gus a stretch at a time.
The year swings from about -16°C in January to roughly 17°C in July. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. On Lac Gus that shapes the whole year.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. For a change of water, Lac de la Rumeur is 2.6 km distant. For Lac Gus, the notice at the access point is the final word.
