Solid cloud cover today, with a useful SSW wind pushing food about and the barometer holding steady. The fish at Lac Gurat are likely to sit near the weed line and any gaps in it. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

You will find Lac Gurat in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The bank is 492 metres above sea level. At 4 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Nearest town is Leblanc, 80 km off. The nearest city of size is Saguenay, 203 km away. Water in the same corner: Lac Pivin some 0.9 km off, Lac Ringuet a touch under 1.2 km, Lac Batonnet some 1.3 km off, Lac Buzon a touch under 1.6 km and Lac Anou some 2.1 km off. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On Lac Gurat the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The warmest month averages 16°C, the coldest about -18°C. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. It holds true on Lac Gurat more years than not.
Access is not recorded for this water. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. For a change of water, Lac Pivin is 0.9 km distant. Check the position on Lac Gurat before loading the car.
