Clear overhead with good moonlight, with calm air over the water and no real change in pressure. Give inflow corners and shaded margins the first hour at Lac Grave. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

The Abitibi-Témiscamingue end of Quebec holds Lac Grave. The bank is 306 metres above sea level. The water covers some 15 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The bank runs about 1.4 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. The nearest place of any size is Amos, 25 km away. The nearest city of size is Greater Sudbury, 296 km away. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Species logged across Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Fish Lac Grave where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Seasonal averages run from -18°C in January up to 17°C in July. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Lac Grave fishes to that pattern most years.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. A phone call first saves an afternoon. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac Chambeau at 6 km is the sensible second choice. The position on Lac Grave is worth confirming on the day.
