Dull, settled light over the water, with a light chop building from the S with the glass holding level. Lac Granderen should fish best around inflow corners and shaded margins today. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Granderen lies within the bounds of Mauricie, Quebec. This is rolling bush ground. Around 59 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. Shoreline comes to about 4.3 km, small enough to learn in a day. Size puts it in the front rank of our Mauricie list. Supplies mean a trip to La Tuque, 42 km off. Weymontachie lies 50 km off, Laurentides another 92 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Survey and observation records for Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. On Lac Granderen the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -16°C in January. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Expect Lac Granderen to follow that timing.
No access rule appears in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac de l'Acajou sits 2.1 km off and takes the overflow. Check the current arrangement for Lac Granderen.
