Flat light and a covered sky today, with calm air over the water and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Lac Goodman around reed fringes and open pockets. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

You will find Lac Goodman in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. The bank is 433 metres above sea level. It measures about 89 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Size puts it in the front rank of our Abitibi-Témiscamingue list. Head to Senneterre, 108 km away, for anything you forgot. After that come Leblanc at 118 km and Barraute at 137 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Public occurrence data for Abitibi-Témiscamingue names northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. The near bank of Lac Goodman is often the one people ignore.
In an average year July sits at 16°C and January at -18°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Lac Goodman fishes to that pattern most years.
The access position is unclear from public sources. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. If the gate is shut, Lac Diaz at 2.6 km is the nearest alternative. Rules at Lac Goodman are worth checking on the day.
