Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a light S breeze and no real change in pressure. On Lac Gold, work bays that hold the day's warmth first. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Set in Laurentides, Quebec, this is Lac Gold. It sits at 278 metres above sea level. It covers about 3 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Our Laurentides list holds plenty of bigger water. La Minerve lies 18 km from the water. Further out sit Rivière-Rouge (22 km) and Labelle (31 km). It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Treat Lac Gold as a water to read rather than to cover.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -14°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. It holds true on Lac Gold more years than not.
Access is not recorded for this water. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Should this one be busy, Lac Mercier is 0.5 km off. For Lac Gold, the notice at the access point is the final word.
