A clean, cloudless night over the water, with light air out of the NW and pressure going nowhere. The water to cover at Lac Gingras is inflow corners and shaded margins. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec, is where Lac Gingras sits. The surroundings are mixed forest. With some 38 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. About 3.2 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Rouyn-Noranda lies 37 km from the water. Greater Sudbury is the closest city, 207 km away. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Public occurrence data for Abitibi-Témiscamingue names northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Lac Gingras gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -17°C for January. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Gingras.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Sort the permit out before you load the car. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. If the gate is shut, Lac Senaka at 5.5 km is the nearest alternative. Treat Lac Gingras as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
