Patchy cloud over the water after dark, with a helpful ripple pushed from the S and pressure going nowhere. Lac Gerard should fish best around any hard bottom among the soft today. Everything points to the morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Look for Lac Gerard in the Lanaudière part of Quebec. The land about it is pine and birch. Sainte-Béatrix is the closest town at 8 km. Terrebonne is the closest city, 49 km away. Close neighbours run: Lac Marchand within 1.1 km, Lac Bastien at 1.4 km, Lac du Chanoine within 2.7 km, Lac Stevens at 2.7 km and Lac Long within 3.1 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Across Lanaudière, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. On Lac Gerard the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Long-run averages give July about 19°C and January about -13°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. After late April the shallows warm and the fish move up. Break-up sits around late April on average, with the water closing again about late November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. The season on Lac Gerard rarely departs from it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. If the gate is shut, Lac Marchand at 1.1 km is the nearest alternative. Treat Lac Gerard as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
