Rain colouring the margins today, with steady pressure of wind from the S and the barometer holding steady. Activity on Lac Georgette should centre on the seam between weed and open water. Block out the hours from night into morning. Slow down and let the fish find the bait. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Within Mauricie, Quebec, you have Lac Georgette. The country round it is taiga from end to end. This is a pocket water of some 3 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is a small entry by Mauricie standards. Supplies mean a trip to La Tuque, 50 km off. The big place round here is Saguenay, 119 km distant. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Survey and observation records for Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Anyone new to Lac Georgette should walk it once before setting up.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 17°C, while January sits near -16°C. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. On average, early May opens the water and mid November closes it again. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Lac Georgette runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. If the gate is shut, Lac Ghislaine at 0.6 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac Georgette in particular, ask before you travel.
