Dull, settled light over the water, with almost no wind to speak of with the glass holding level. Start the search at Lac Georges along the shaded margin through bright spells. Expect the better fishing from night into morning. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Georges is one of the Mauricie listings for Quebec. It sits at 377 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 10 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Shoreline comes to about 1.7 km, small enough to learn in a day. Some 19 km away sits La Tuque, the nearest settlement. Laurentides follows at 36 km, then Sainte-Thècle at 66 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Records held for Mauricie cover northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. The near bank of Lac Georges is often the one people ignore.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -16°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Georges.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Access points are not mapped for this water, which suits people who like quiet. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac de l'Eider, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the current arrangement for Lac Georges.
