A closed sky with even light today, with a kind SW breeze on the water and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Lac Gendron should come off reed fringes and open pockets. A stay-home graph, with the evening as the one excuse to go. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Gendron is set in Côte-Nord, Quebec. The surface lies 253 metres up. Surface area runs to about 4 hectares — small enough to read in one session. On size it sits at the modest end of our Côte-Nord list. For a base, Saint-Alexandre sits 58 km out. Port-Cartier follows at 58 km, then Baie-Comeau at 73 km. Not far off: 0.7 km away is Lac Bacon, Lac Boyer about 1.3 km, 1.8 km away is Lac Sally, Lac Munier about 2.5 km and 3 km away is Lac Cyr. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Fish documented in Côte-Nord include logperch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. On Lac Gendron that means starting tight and working out.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -15°C. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. On Lac Gendron that shapes the whole year.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Lac Bacon is 0.7 km off. For Lac Gendron, the notice at the access point is the final word.
