A closed sky with even light today, with calm air over the water with the glass holding level. Activity on Lac Gaada should centre on the first drop-off and weed lines. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Gaada is a Nord-du-Québec water, in Quebec. Country round the bank runs to boreal forest. Around 14 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. About 2.9 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. On size it sits at the modest end of our Nord-du-Québec list. The nearest place of any size is Chibougamau, 45 km away. Further out sit Chapais (75 km) and Mistissini (77 km). No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Nord-du-Québec include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout and lake whitefish. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Work Lac Gaada in sections rather than trying to cover it.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 16°C, while January sits near -20°C. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at early November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Anyone fishing Lac Gaada regularly works to that calendar.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Drap sits 2.7 km off and takes the overflow. Check the position on Lac Gaada before loading the car.
