A grey, even sky over the water, with a decent SSW wind working the banks and steady pressure. The productive water at Lac Fricourt will be around any hard bottom among the soft. The forecast is against you; the morning is the least bad option. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand.

Lac Fricourt lies in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. The ground around here is spruce and muskeg. The water covers around 1.06 sq km, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. Some 10 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. It is among the larger waters listed here for Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Senneterre is the closest place, 89 km off. It is 261 km to Gatineau, the nearest city. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Across Abitibi-Témiscamingue, recorded fish include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Read Lac Fricourt before you fish it and the day goes better.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. The season on Lac Fricourt follows the weather closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. For a change of water, Lac Snyder is 3.5 km distant. What applies at Lac Fricourt may have changed since it was mapped.
