Dull, settled light over the water, with a whisper of wind from the S and pressure sitting still. The productive water at Lac French will be around any hard bottom among the soft. The night is where the day comes good. Make the first hour count and build on it. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

The Laurentides end of Quebec holds Lac French. The country here is rolling bush. It runs to roughly 14 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Around 2.0 km of margin, front to back. It is high ground by Quebec standards. Nearest place of any size is Labelle, 19 km away. Mont-Tremblant lies 22 km off, Rivière-Rouge another 23 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Survey and observation records for Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac French the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
The seasonal spread runs -15°C to 17°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. On Lac French the same rules apply, with local timing.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Should this one be busy, Lac Etriac is 1.7 km off. None of that is settled for Lac French in what we hold.
