No direct sun expected today, with just enough SSE wind to ripple the surface and pressure going nowhere. The water to cover at Lac Frechette is the seam between weed and open water. Little to get excited about, though the morning holds a sliver of promise. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short.

Set in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Lac Frechette is a Quebec water. Elevation runs to 284 metres. At some 5.05 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. Some 11 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. Few waters listed in Abitibi-Témiscamingue are bigger. Rouyn-Noranda sits 29 km from here and is the nearest stop. It is 217 km to Greater Sudbury, the nearest city. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Across Abitibi-Témiscamingue, recorded fish include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. The county list is broader than any single water. Anyone new to Lac Frechette should walk it once before setting up.
Averages here run 17°C at the top of summer and -16°C at the bottom of winter. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Plan around that when you fish Lac Frechette.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Failing this one, try Lac Clair, 3.1 km away. None of that is settled for Lac Frechette in what we hold.
