Flat light and a covered sky today, with just enough S wind to ripple the surface and pressure going nowhere. Start the search at Lac Franklin along sheltered bays and points. A stay-home graph, with the evening as the one excuse to go. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Set in Côte-Nord, Lac Franklin is a Quebec water. The water sits 214 metres up. Around 27 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The edge runs 3.6 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. Hauterive sits 23 km from here and is the nearest stop. Further out sit Baie-Comeau (26 km) and Chute-aux-Outardes (29 km). The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Fish documented in Côte-Nord include logperch. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Lac Franklin a short move beats a long cast.
The year swings from about -16°C in January to roughly 16°C in July. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Anyone fishing Lac Franklin regularly works to that calendar.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. If the gate is shut, Lac Ombilic at 1.2 km is the nearest alternative.
