Overcast skies today, with a mirror surface most of the day with the glass holding level. The fish at Lac Frange are likely to sit near any hard bottom among the soft. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

In Quebec, Lac Frange belongs to Outaouais. The bank is 361 metres above sea level. With some 11 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. About 1.6 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Saint-Boniface lies 104 km from the water. Further out sit Ferme-Neuve (112 km) and Maniwaki (116 km). It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Reported across Outaouais: pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Lac Frange the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -17°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. From about early May to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Anyone fishing Lac Frange regularly works to that calendar.
Public data does not answer the access question here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Hoodoo at 1.9 km is the sensible second choice. Ask locally about Lac Frange if anything is unclear.
