A bright day with hardly any cloud, with light air out of the NNW with the glass holding level. On Lac Fourmont, work sheltered bays and points first. A steady middling day from end to end. Change depth before you change anything else. A cold snap day, so work the warmest water you can find.

Lac Fourmont is a Happy Valley-Goose Bay water, Newfoundland and Labrador side. The ground around here is spruce and muskeg. The shoreline runs to about 48 km, far more than one trip can cover. Across our Newfoundland and Labrador listings, few waters are bigger. Happy Valley-Goose Bay lies 137 km from the water. Beyond it, Saint-Augustin at 155 km and Sheshatshiu at 162 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Public occurrence data for Happy Valley-Goose Bay names brook trout, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish, longnose sucker and northern pike. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lac Fourmont responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Seasonal averages run from -18°C in January up to 14°C in July. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around mid May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about mid May until roughly early November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. At Lac Fourmont the season follows that pattern closely.
Public data does not answer the access question here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Failing this one, try Lac Donquan, 16 km away. None of that is settled for Lac Fourmont in what we hold.
