A closed sky with even light today, with dead-still conditions and no real change in pressure. Fish at Lac Forget should hold close to points where shallow meets deep. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Out in Lanaudière, Quebec, sits Lac Forget. It stands 454 metres above sea level. The water measures roughly 3 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. Most waters listed here for Lanaudière are larger. The nearest place of any size is Saint-Michel-des-Saints, 34 km away. Further out sit Manawan (36 km) and Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm (67 km). The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Lanaudière records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass among the fish reported. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. The shape of Lac Forget rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Seasonal averages run from -16°C in January up to 17°C in July. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. It holds true on Lac Forget more years than not.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac de la Tour, 0.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. The position on Lac Forget is worth confirming on the day.
