A closed sky with even light today, with dead-still conditions with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lac Flos is windblown banks where food collects. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Flos is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue waters in Quebec. The bank is 337 metres above sea level. It measures about 29 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The outline measures near 5.1 km, so local knowledge counts. The nearest town is Saint-Isidore, 50 km away. Then Ville-Marie, 58 km, and Saint-Bruno-de-Guigues, 60 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Open biodiversity records for Abitibi-Témiscamingue list northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Lac Flos responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Averages move between -16°C in January and 18°C in July. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. The lid tends to go about late April and return around late November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. On Lac Flos that shapes the whole year.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lac du Barrage at 1.3 km is the sensible second choice. Treat Lac Flos as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
