Uneven cloud over the water after dark, with a light chop building from the S and the barometer holding steady. The fish at Lac Findlay are likely to sit near the seam between weed and open water. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Look for Lac Findlay in the Outaouais part of Quebec. Elevation runs to 213 metres. It measures about 76 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The margin runs to about 8.2 km in total. On our Outaouais list it sits near the top for size. The town to know is Fort-Coulonge, 18 km out. For a city, Gatineau is 107 km off. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Public occurrence data for Outaouais names pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. On Lac Findlay the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Between January at about -13°C and July at about 19°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Lac Findlay fishes to that pattern most years.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. For a change of water, Lac Black is 1.8 km distant. Treat access at Lac Findlay as something to verify.
