Flat light and a covered sky today, with a kind SSW breeze on the water with a settled glass. Fish at Lac Ferguson should hold close to structure within a cast of the bank. Quiet conditions all day, with the morning marginally better. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today.

Lac Ferguson is an Abitibi-Témiscamingue water, Quebec side. This is spruce and muskeg country. Surface area runs to roughly 2.86 sq km, so plan for one area rather than the whole. Some 17 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. It is among the larger waters listed here for Abitibi-Témiscamingue. The nearest place of any size is Senneterre, 102 km away. Val-d'Or follows at 122 km, then Barraute at 127 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Survey and observation records for Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Lac Ferguson gives up more to patience than to distance.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -18°C. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Lac Ferguson fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. For a change of water, Lac du Chemin is 1.8 km distant. What applies at Lac Ferguson may have changed since it was mapped.
