Overcast skies today, with a kind SW breeze on the water and steady pressure. Activity on Lac Farwell should centre on shallow cover and weed edges. A grinding day likely, with the morning worth the effort if any is. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

The Outaouais entry here is Lac Farwell, in Quebec. It stands 348 metres above sea level. About 5 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. The town to know is Deep River, 43 km out. After that come Chalk River at 53 km and Petawawa at 70 km. In the same area: Lac Elliott out at 1.7 km, Lac Lindeberg at about 2 km, Lac Eggleston out at 2.5 km, Lac Trout at about 2.6 km and Lac Drude out at 2.7 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Open biodiversity records for Outaouais list pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Anyone new to Lac Farwell should walk it once before setting up.
Expect July near 18°C and January near -14°C on the long-run figures. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. It holds true on Lac Farwell more years than not.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. The nearest alternative is Lac Elliott, 1.7 km out. For Lac Farwell, the notice at the access point is the final word.
