An even grey lid over the water, with air barely moving and steady pressure. Fish at Lac Faraud should hold close to windblown banks where food collects. The day peaks in the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Faraud is a Lanaudière water, in Quebec. The surface lies 456 metres up. It measures about 14 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. There is roughly 1.8 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. Saint-Michel-des-Saints lies 26 km from the water. The big place round here is Trois-Rivières, 89 km distant. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Lanaudière records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass among the fish reported. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Work Lac Faraud in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -15°C in January. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at late November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Plan any trip to Lac Faraud around it.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. If the gate is shut, Lac Forestier at 0.8 km is the nearest alternative. Signs at Lac Faraud carry more weight than any list.
